The Department: Platform Security The Role: Senior Principal Security Engineer (Applied Cryptography and Authentication) The Platform Security team secures Geminiâs infrastructure through service hardening and by developing and supporting a suite of foundational tools. We provide secure-by-default infrastructure, consumable security services, and expert consultation to engineering teams for secure cloud and non-cloud infrastructure covering a broad problem space that includes all areas of Geminiâs platform infrastructure. This is a critical role on the team to enhance the security of Geminiâs infrastructure through cryptographic expertise and the development of cutting edge authentication mechanisms. This role will spearhead initiatives to improve our PKI, fortify secrets management, implement scalable MFA solutions, and architect a multi-IDP environment. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of applied cryptography, a proven track record in securing complex systems, significant experience engineering authentication and secrets management systems, and the ability to collaborate with engineering teams to achieve security objectives. Responsibilities: Lead PKI Architecture and Engineering: Design, implement, and maintain a robust PKI infrastructure that supports the secure issuance, management, and revocation of digital certificates. Harden secrets management: Enhance the security posture of our secrets management platforms by implementing best practices and advanced cryptographic controls. Provide expertise in applied cryptography: Apply cryptographic principles to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity of sensitive data at rest and in transit. Eliminate insecure authentication practices: Drive the removal of shared/static credentials and transition to a scalable, user-friendly multi-factor authentication (MFA) solution. Partner with engineering teams: Collaborate with engineering teams on security architecture and implementation decisions related to access management, cryptography, and related areas of infrastructure security. The Department: Onchain The Role: Software Engineer, Infrastructure The infrastructure team at Gemini creates and manages tools and platforms, automates the creation and support of this infrastructure, helps integrate complex processes, and supports secure data access. We take a software-first mindset to use code to make and maintain our software infrastructure. We seek engineers who think of themselves as a software engineer first, with correlated expertise in back-end engineering. Our team builds and operates environments for the purpose of digital asset access. There are three main pillars of work including building and running network nodes, building and running validators, and supporting our next generation wallet infrastructure. In these pillars, we use and implement tools and software to support our cloud-based infrastructure. Given the need to build and integrate more of our software in the cloud, the ideal engineer will have extensive experience in developing, automating, and building software with associated cloud expertise (e.g., AWS or GCP). This engineer will also work closely with various teams including various teams such as Protocols, Product Security, On-chain, and Custody. We are a dynamic group with both entrepreneurial spirit and security engineering experience.
